OFF GRID SYSTEM
In Off Grid system the DC power generated from the solar panel is fed to a DC combiner box from where the power is routed to a solar charge controller.
The solar charge controller is responsible for charging the battery to its maximum capacity and also for protecting the battery from over charging. The charge controller can only charge the battery during day time when solar power is available.
The power stored in the battery is then fed to a Inverter which converts the DC power to AC power, this is in turn used to power the appliance. Since there is no utility grid this system is completely dependent on solar power only, hence the battery bank for the off grid system will be large compared to other system types.
